Job Title: Assistant Signal and Telecoms Maintenance Engineer Location: Kent (3 days on-site) Contract: 6 months (likely extension) Rate: Up to 420 per day (Umbrella) DBS Required Sentinel Safety Critical (DZEP) from Day OneRole OverviewSupporting the Signal and Telecoms Maintenance Engineer in delivering safe, reliable and efficient railway asset performance. The role involves leading technicians, ensuring compliance, and providing technical support within a live operational rail environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support signalling and telecoms technicians to meet performance targetsMonitor asset reliability, safety, and maintenance deliveryProvide technical guidance, inspections, and fault investigationsManage safety compliance, assurance, and non-conformance processesReview and approve method statements and work plansMaintain accurate engineering records and systemsUndertake staff surveillance and quality/asset checksEssential RequirementsStrong signalling/telecoms engineering experience in railKnowledge of maintenance processes, standards, and safety complianceExperience in operational railway environmentsAbility to manage incidents, failures, and technical investigationsIRSE licence (signalling)HNC/HND or equivalentStrong communication and leadership skillsWe can only consider applications from those eligible to work in the UK for this position.
