Astute''s Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise in the Energy from Waste (EfW)Power industry, to recruit an Assistant Shift Team Leader to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station in Fife, Scotland. The EfW power station processes 240,000 tonnes of waste per annum, exporting 21.5MW of electricity to the grid.
The vital Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of -47,599 + -5,000 Shift Allowance + Bonus + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Shift Team Leader in the safe & efficient operation of the plant,
- Carry out plant inspections, adjustments, readings and maintain all data accurately to ensure compliance with the environmental permit.
- Manage and monitor plant consumables, ensuring stock levels are maintained and liaising with procurement to replenish supplies.
- Supervising contractors, reviewing RAMS and ensuring all work is carried out in line with company legislation and processes.
- Identify areas within the plant for improvement to improve efficiency / availability.
- Working closely with the maintenance team to address problems which may come up
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 or above qualification in an engineering discipline
- A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
- HV Senior/Authorised Person would be advantageous
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
The Assistant Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:
- Prior experience working in heavy process engineering environments such as Power (EfW, CCGT, Coal, Biomass, CHP), Petrochemicals, Refineries, Paper Mills, etc.
- Knowledge and experience working with steam generation equipment.
- Extensive experience working with SCADA/DCS systems.
- Familiar with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) Procedures including writing and issuing of permits.
- Excellent proven leadership skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and cover for shift staff in times of absence on short notice
