About the Role

Royal Victoria Country Park is one of Hampshire County Council''s most popular visitor attractions hosting around 400,000 visits each year. The site has a full programme of events for the public, welcomes school visits and has a very successful volunteers'' group to assist park staff. It''s an exciting time to join the dynamic and innovative team at Royal Victoria.

This role supports our existing Rangers work. As a casual Assistant Ranger, you will help deliver an agreed programme of practical works in order to provide a high-quality management of the park, where both visitors and wildlife are kept in mind, to balance the needs of recreation and conservation wherever appropriate.

During peak summer months this role may support day to day park operations as required. In less busy periods the focus will be more so on the grounds/habitat management. You will have regular contact with our volunteers and, may be tasked with supporting their work on occasions.

Throughout your casual contract, your role will be to carry out a wide range of practical maintenance including frequent site patrols and litter picking, site maintenance and the management of site infrastructure. Habitat management will predominantly be grassland and woodland focused due to the time of year and bird nesting season restrictions.

With an enthusiastic and flexible approach to work, you''ll be willing to work outdoors with in a team or autonomously, and work weekend days to help with covering contracted staff leave request and sickness. You will possess good interpersonal skills and be able to undertake the physical requirements of the role. Furthermore, you should hold a current, clean driving licence.
