Build your commercial experience while working on substantial civil engineering projects across the South West.
A growing and established civil engineering contractor is expanding its commercial team following continued project success across the region. Delivering schemes typically valued between £5m and £20m, the business works across bridges, highways, infrastructure and heavy civils, with projects stretching from Exeter through to Bristol.
They are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is keen to develop their commercial knowledge, take on increasing responsibility and learn directly from experienced construction professionals.
You’ll receive full training and ongoing support, alongside genuine project exposure and a clear route for career progression within a business that places a strong emphasis on developing its people.
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll become part of an experienced commercial team and gain practical involvement across the full lifecycle of major civil engineering schemes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the commercial management of projects ranging from £5m to £20m
- Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting and budget control
- Preparing valuations, variations and applications for payment
- Supporting subcontractor procurement and managing subcontract accounts
- Working alongside operational and site teams to monitor project performance
- Assisting with commercial reports and financial information
- Developing effective relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Building your commercial knowledge through hands-on experience and guidance from senior colleagues
You’ll be looking to establish and develop your career within civil engineering and commercial management, with the drive to learn and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
You’ll need:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying
- A genuine interest in civil engineering and commercial management
- Strong communication and organisational abilities
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- Good attention to detail
- A full UK driving licence, or be working towards obtaining one
