Assistant Project Manager Construction Consultancy
A growing independent construction consultancy is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its Manchester team and support the delivery of private-sector development projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager with construction consultancy experience to work across commercial, residential, leisure, hospitality and mixed-use schemes. The successful Assistant Project Manager will gain broad exposure to the full project lifecycle while working alongside experienced project and cost management professionals.
The Assistant Project Manager will support clients, consultants and contractors from the early design stages through procurement, construction and completion. This Assistant Project Manager position would suit an ambitious individual who wants to develop their technical knowledge, strengthen their client-facing experience and progress towards becoming a Project Manager. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will receive guidance from senior colleagues while taking increasing responsibility for your own workstreams.
You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.
The Assistant Project Manager''s role
The Assistant Project Manager will support the preparation and maintenance of project programmes, risk registers, action schedules and progress reports. You will attend client, design-team and contractor meetings, produce accurate minutes and monitor actions through to completion.
Working across pre-contract and post-contract stages, the Assistant Project Manager will assist with consultant appointments, procurement activities, tender processes, change control and contract administration. You will coordinate information between architects, engineers, cost consultants and contractors, helping ensure projects remain aligned with the agreed brief, programme and quality requirements.
The Assistant Project Manager
The successful Assistant Project Manager will have:
- Previous project management experience within a construction consultancy.
- Experience supporting private-sector building or development projects.
- A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- An understanding of JCT contracts and common procurement routes.
- Strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
- Confidence working with clients and multidisciplinary consultant teams.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
- Progress towards APM, RICS or CIOB membership would be advantageous.
