The Green Recruitment Company are delighted to be working exclusively with Salix Finance on an Assistant Director of Programmes role.Salix Finance Ltd (Salix) is a non-departmental public body, owned wholly by HM Government, established to accelerate public sector investment in energy efficiency technologies. Salix is funded by BEIS, DfE and the Welsh and Scottish Governments, and works with public sector bodies across the UK to progress carbon reduction targets. Salix employs over 100 staff and has been recognised with Investors in People Gold Award and a Top 100 listing in 2021 for small companies, not-for-profit category.The role is one of two Assistant Directors of Programmes. You will assist the Directors of Programmes to drive performance across the business, line managing up to 3–4 Senior Programme Managers, oversee strategy and delivery plans for their teams, and provide leadership to ensure successful delivery of Salix programmes. You will manage multiple Salix Loan and Grants Programmes, develop the future pipeline of projects across funding programmes, and regularly prepare performance reviews for the Chief Executive, Directors and the Salix Board. The role deputises for the Director as required. Salix is undergoing significant financial growth and this role supports growth, customer base development, and a sustainable pipeline of project opportunities across England, Scotland and Wales. You will be an active member of the Corporate Management Team, contributing to strategic decision making and leading multi-team projects. Your team of Senior Programme Managers is jointly responsible for delivering -£1bn of projects, with growth expected over the next five years. You will develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships with funders, clients and partners and ensure effective risk management across loan and grant programmes and individual projects.Key Responsibilities
Performance and Delivery: Report on the performance of programmes to the Director of Programmes, Director of Finance and Resources and the Chief Executive; manage reporting of key indicators across programme teams (monthly projections, end-of-year commitments, cash position, and budgeting of claims for new funding); support the Directors in preparing reports to funders on programme delivery; deliver monthly written reports on programme activities to the Salix Board; manage programme risk registers and provide input to the Board’s strategic company-wide risk register.Project Management: Develop and maintain good working relationships with delivery partners (BEIS, DfE, EFSA, DoH, OFS, SFC, Welsh Government and Scottish Government); build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships to sustain the pipeline of projects and deliver annual outputs; develop relationships with new funders and obtain additional investment; manage completions including forecasting and budgeting of claims, managing risks of abandonments, and ensuring timely payments to clients.Delivery Systems and Strategy: Establish and maintain systems and processes for effective delivery of key projects; support the Director of Programmes in developing, implementing and reviewing strategy and resourcing plans for the Delivery team; ensure teams maintain a risk register and effectively manage risks; lead on managing key delivery programmes as assigned (e.g., Recycling Funds, Salix Energy Efficiency Loans, Low Carbon Skills Funds) and other new programmes as they are launched; support the development of IT systems to support programme delivery.People, Marketing and Communications: Lead, manage and motivate direct reports; promote consistent working practices across all programmes; participate in strategic planning and budget setting; contribute to Salix becoming a modern company with a national reputation for excellence and a lower carbon footprint; actively participate in the Corporate Management Team; lead the induction programme for new Delivery team staff; implement Salix values in day-to-day practice.Marketing and Growth: Market Salix’s work across the public sector to position Salix as a market leader in energy efficiency; undertake market sizing and research into new opportunities; support business development to grow the customer base and project pipeline across all sectors; work with the PR and Marketing team to identify marketing opportunities; represent Salix at promotional events and funder meetings; travel around the UK as required; participate in out-of-hours work when needed.People and Health and Safety: Ensure team staff are trained and developed to expand the business; develop team strengths and skills; conduct performance management and appraisals; manage health and safety and attendance in line with Salix policy; manage recruitment and probation, and maintain company values in people management.Appointment Timetable
