Overview

Assistant Practice Manager, Claremont Clinic, Forest Gate, London. Caring for our local community since 1951. We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Practice Manager to join our GP surgery. The role supports the Practice Manager in the day-to-day running of the surgery, combining administrative efficiency with people management and patient service.Hours and salary are shown below. This is a full-time role with Monday to Friday hours intended to ensure smooth operations and high-quality patient care.Key Responsibilities

Support the management of clinical and non-clinical staffOversee administrative systems, procedures, and patient servicesAssist with rotas, recruitment, training, and HR processesWrite and update practice policies and proceduresLiaise with patients, staff, and external healthcare professionalsContribute to compliance with CQC standards and practice policiesStrong administrative and IT skills; proficient in use of EMIS/Web-based NHS ICT systemsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesProactive, flexible, and supportive team playerHours, Pay and Flexibility

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00 (including 30 minutes unpaid lunch)Salary: £16–£17 per hour, depending on experienceFlexibility: Some flexibility to cover additional or alternative hours for colleagues during annual/sickness leaveExperience and Qualifications

Essential: GP surgery management experience (minimum 2 years); GP surgery administrative experienceProficient in ICT; experienced with EMISWeb or SystmOneExperience supervising and appraising staff; financial and human resources managementExcellent communication and confidentiality in handling patient informationStrong teamwork and independent problem-solving abilitiesDesirable: Knowledge of NHS management and primary care structure; experience writing and reviewing healthcare policies in primary careQualifications: Essential – GCSE English and Maths (C or above); clear and proficient English communicationDesirable – healthcare management-related qualificationsAbout Us
