Overview

The post of Assistant Divisional Manager is a key position within the trust''s senior management structure. Reporting to the Divisional Manager, the Assistant Divisional Manager provides operational and strategic management support to the Divisional Manager, Head of Nursing and Divisional Director to assist in the development and modernisation of Moorfields'' services. The Assistant Divisional Manager has a wide range of responsibilities for ensuring the effective development and operation of the Division''s services within the Directorate of Croydon. The post-holder is part of the directorate leadership triumvirate, working closely with the Matron and Clinical Director. The post-holder is responsible for effective operational management, leadership, expertise and support for key areas within the Division to ensure delivery of high quality, safe and effective patient services within resources. The post holder will provide operational support to deliver the Trust''s overall strategy and objectives, including opportunities for clinical and administrative innovation and modernisation, and ensuring delivery of operational performance and strategic objectives (e.g., RTT waiting list, financial, HR, HandS, risk, clinical and quality governance). The role is predominantly based at Croydon Hospital with responsibility for sites across the division.Responsibilities

Be accountable for the delivery of services provided by the Division within available resourcesActively promote and develop new ways of working: continually review services and redesign to meet patient needs and achieve objectivesIdentify and address service pressures, planning, monitoring and review of action plans, policies and strategiesFormulate new service developments and initiatives, including preparation of bids and business casesMonitor Division activity levels, ensuring activity, income and NHS plan targets are achieved with realisable improvement plansWork with commissioning colleagues to ensure services are appropriately funded, including analysis of services, statistics, performance, audit, data and report-writingLead and participate in ad hoc project work; project manage significant service transformation and change projectsCollaborate with the operational team across the Trust to assist with day-to-day patient flow and service efficiencyWork with colleagues across the Division to improve service efficiency and patient experienceEnsure delivery of Trust and statutory responsibilities within financial resourcesParticipate in the Trust senior manager on-call rotaDeputise for and exercise delegated authority of the Divisional Manager as requiredRepresent the Division at Trust meetings and external meetings as requiredPeople Management

Directly line-manage senior administrator(s) within the Division, including recruitment and performance/quality standardsMonitor workforce indicators (sickness, turnover) and address issues with line managers and HRPromote a high performance culture by holding people to account within the DivisionProvide guidance for staff who line-manage other staff within the DivisionAnalyse current and future service activity and determine staffing requirements to deliver service plansUndertake individual performance appraisals for directly line-managed staff and develop training plansRequirements and Other Information
