The role is based in London and focuses on transaction opportunities that span Europe and EY’s wider EMEIA footprint.The Origination team is an entrepreneurial group within EY’s EY Parthenon (“EYP”), otherwise known internally as SaT, service line. The team is focussed on generating new deal opportunities by supporting our private equity (“PE”) client base through regular deal pipeline and asset-specific discussions. The team is organised along sector lines, and works closely with practice areas such as (e.g., financial diligence, strategy, and operational value creation) on key transactions by proactively providing valuable insights, knowledge and intelligence on prospective large-cap deal targets across Europe. The team is a crucial lynchpin in the EYP go-to-market strategy for PE, and the aim is to enhance our existing Health, Science and Wellness dialogue with PE sector teams aligned to HSW.The opportunitybuild external relationships with dealmakers at large-cap PE with strong life sciences teams, selected corporates and with other market advisors (bankers, lawyers etc)develop selected account and relationship management responsibilities.build relationships across EY’s Health, Science and Wellness team, the Origination-Key Executive Programme practice and the broader EMEIA firm.develop sector knowledge and Health, Science and Wellness deal evaluation and valuation techniques.support the development of thematic pieces and pursuits in the areas of digital health, outsourced pharma services, and pharmaceuticals, among other sub-sector opportunities; andbe a key member of an elite, highly experienced team central to helping deliver SaT revenue and growth.Your key responsibilitiesAs the Origination Health, Science and Wellness sector lead, you will be the central point of contact for deal flow within the sector. You will be responsible for managing both the short and medium-term sector pipeline by sourcing, investigating and distributing deal intelligence to the SaT Partners. Another essential part of the role involves developing market-leading insight discussion materials on upcoming pipeline targets and sector themes (“pursuits”), then delivering this alongside pursuit team deal experts to selected Health, Science and Wellness Funds, PE and corporate clients.Your responsibilities will involve internal discussions with relevant people from the SaT Service Line and qualitative and quantitative analysis to develop pursuits. You will also be required to form relationships with Investment Bankers and other advisers to chase leads and gather market intelligence.You will also have the opportunity to support the wider Origination team where relevant in team management and preparing sector agnostic insights (e.g. our Western European deal pipeline, PE portfolio company analysis, etc.)Skills and attributes for successStrong interpersonal skills; client-centricTeam playerStrong communication skills, including crafting client meeting notes and email interactionsExcellent analytical and written skillsStrategically and commercially astuteEnthusiastic and flexible attitude to workSelf-starter and initiative to drive pursuits forwardExceptional organizational skillsCulturally savvy in a pan-European work environmentTo qualify for the role you must haveProfessional ACA qualification or equivalentA bachelor’s degree 2:1 or above or equivalentDeal execution experience and/or technical background (minimum 5 years)Financial literacy (understanding of integrated financial statements and reporting, modelling skills)Ideally, you’ll also haveUnderstanding of private equity / private capitalHealth, Science and Wellness sector experienceGrowing network of contacts in the market (Health, Science and Wellness and PE professionals, bankers, lawyers, etc.)What we look forThe ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a genuine interest in providing our clients with new and insightful information on upcoming and live transactions.
