Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake a range of ecological field surveys in accordance with relevant guidance (e.g., CIEEM, BCT, Natural England guidelines), including Phase 1/UKHab surveys, protected species surveys, and habitat assessments.
- Assist in designing and delivering ecological monitoring programmes and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare high£quality ecological reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), protected species reports and mitigation plans.
- Support Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties across a variety of projects, providing on£site ecological advice and monitoring.
- Attend site meetings, liaise with clients, contractors, stakeholders and statutory bodies, ensuring ecological requirements are effectively communicated.
- Contribute to data analysis, GIS mapping, and preparation of survey plans and constraints maps.
- Support the development of in£house ecological capabilities and contribute to wider business development through high£quality technical input and client engagement.
About You andndash; Essential Skills andamp; Experience:
- A degree in ecology, environmental science, biological sciences, or related discipline
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) of CIEEM
- Demonstrable practical experience in ecological survey work
- Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy relating to biodiversity and protected species
- Strong species identification skills (botanical and/or faunal), with a willingness to further develop specialisms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer£focused and solution£driven approach
- Understanding of health andamp; safety requirements and risk assessment procedures
- Confidence in undertaking fieldwork and producing clear, accurate ecological reports
- Experience using GIS (e.g., QGIS/ArcGIS) or other ecological survey software
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary environmental team
