Turner Lovell is recruiting a Senior Site Manager / Assistant Civil Construction Manager to support the delivery of large-scale electrical infrastructure projects across the Southwest of England and South Wales. Our client is a major engineering contractor delivering high-voltage substations and transmission assets for leading energy operators.
In this role, you will work alongside senior project and site management teams, supporting the civil delivery of high-profile schemes from early mobilisation through to final handover. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with HV substation experience to develop their career in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily coordination of civil construction activities and assist with site mobilisation planning.
- Contribute to design reviews, construction schedules, and progress reporting.
- Work closely with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to identify and resolve site issues.
- Provide input into Temporary Works planning and assess constructability.
- Compile and update project records, drawings, and health & safety files for final handover.
- Act as a company representative in meetings with clients and contractors.
- Utilise client systems to monitor project changes, track risks, and maintain clear communication records.
- Support resource planning to help ensure delivery of project milestones.
Requirements:
- At least five years'' experience in construction, with a strong track record in HV transmission projects.
- Relevant qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or similar discipline.
- CSCS card and a full UK driving licence.
- Solid understanding of civil construction within an electrical infrastructure context.
- Strong communication skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office and project database tools.
Desirable:
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Recognised project management qualification.
- Knowledge of National Grid procedures and Temporary Works requirements.
