About the Role
As an Assistant Buyer, you''ll join a small, collaborative team and report directly to the Buying Manager. You''ll manage product categories, support sourcing strategies, liaise with suppliers, and contribute to product planning based on sales performance and market trends.
You''ll be based in a friendly and relaxed office environment where personal development is encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain specific product categories in line with demand
Regularly review sales and performance indicators to spot trends and opportunities
Plan for new product opportunities and manage stock level forecasts
Negotiate pricing, capacity, and terms with suppliers
Maintain and grow supplier relationships, while identifying new sourcing options
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure on-time product launches and deliveries
Assist in reviewing the supply base and shaping future sourcing direction
Share key sales data to help drive growth or adjustments in product ranges
Monitor commodity pricing and secure the best possible terms for profitability
Occasionally attend store visits, trade fairs, and supplier meetings
What We''re Looking For
Previous experience in buying or procurement
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Excellent Excel skills and IT proficiency
Confident communicator with negotiation and influencing skills
Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask across projects
Commercial awareness and creative problem-solving ability
Ability to work independently while contributing to wider team goals
A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to make quick, informed decisions
Experience managing sample development and approvals is desirable
