Active Staff are proud to be partnering with a prestigious and forward-thinking organisation in Andover. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Buyer to join a growing procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to play a vital role in ensuring the cost-effective and timely purchase of materials, goods, and services in support of production and operational goals.

The role of the Assistant Buyer:

  • Ensure the most cost-effective and efficient mode of purchasing for production materials and services.
  • Manage daily MRP (Material Requirements Planning) suggestions using pre-approved vendors within 123Insight (123I).
  • Provide costings to support customer quotes in collaboration with the commercial team, ensuring timely responses.
  • Ensure deadlines are met to satisfy customer requirements and internal schedules.
  • Monitor and control purchasing spend in line with internal authority guidelines.
  • Maintain flexibility to support evolving procurement and business needs.
  • Self-manage daily tasks to meet purchasing objectives and team targets.
  • Comply with health & safety, IT and data policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably requested within the scope of the Assistant Buyer role.

The person for the Assistant Buyer:

  • A good level of education (GCSE or equivalent required; A-levels an advantage).
  • Experience working within a purchasing team or procurement environment.
  • Proficient with MRP systems (essential).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Background in electronics manufacturing is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • CIPS membership or current study toward Level 3 (Advanced Certificate) is desirable.
