Assistant Accountant

Location: Peterborough
Salary: Up to £35,000
Contract: 12 Month FTC

We’re working with a successful and growing business to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Working within the Financial Reporting team, you’ll support month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, VAT, fixed assets and wider financial reporting activities.

• Support monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and reclassifications.
• Complete bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation.
• Support banking, payments and cash management.
• Prepare VAT returns and maintain supporting records.
• Support audit requirements and financial reporting.
• Help improve finance processes, controls and reporting.

We’re looking for someone with experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar role.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience supporting month-end and reconciliations.
• Good understanding of journals, accruals and prepayments.
• VAT and fixed asset experience.
• Strong Excel and ERP system skills.
• Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• AAT or progress towards a professional qualification would be advantageous.
