Assistant Accountant- Project and Costing

NXTGEN are proud to be representing a growing business in Retford. We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a busy finance team and support day-to-day accounting operations. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with reporting, and supporting the wider team in ensuring smooth financial management across the business.Key Responsibilities:Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across all systemsRecord and reconcile labour, project, and operational costsAllocate and track unassigned costs to the correct departments or projectsPrepare payment forecasts, including foreign currency transactions where neededReview account balances and prepare monthly summaries and statementsMonitor invoices and payments, following up on overdue items and updating expected datesAssist with budget monitoring and cost tracking throughout projectsSupport internal controls and assist with routine financial reportingCollaborate with external accountants on day-to-day queriesSupport month-end and year-end procedures, including account reconciliations and stock/asset trackingAssist with project financial close-outs and reporting tasksCheck supplier payments for accuracy and compliance with purchase ordersThe successful candidate will have previous experience in finance or accounting administration and possess strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
