MET Professional is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and successful business for an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team based in Kingswinford.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you''ll play an important role in supporting the finance function while gaining exposure to month-end reporting, management accounts and financial analysis. The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you''ll support the day-to-day running of the finance department, helping to ensure accurate financial reporting while assisting with a broad range of accounting activities. This is a varied role offering genuine exposure across the finance function, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end reporting.
• Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting.
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Produce financial reports and analysis.
• Assist with audit preparation and year-end accounts.
• Monitor and reconcile key balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with cash flow reporting and forecasting.
• Support the annual budgeting process.
• Help identify and implement improvements to finance processes and controls.
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve financial queries.
• Provide support across the wider finance function as required.

About You

We''re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• A good understanding of month-end accounting processes.
• Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach.
• The ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across the business.
• AAT qualified or studying would be advantageous; however, qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
