Assistant Accountant

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant for a -50m t/o business based in South Leeds.-

Key duties and responsibilities:

- Manage overhead cost lines, including maintaining supporting schedules and preparing accruals and prepayments
- Manage and maintain IFRS16 schedules
- Process group accounts for consolidation
- Create recharge invoices
- Support with month end statement batch creation
- Revalue open transactions for changes in foreign exchange rates
- Provide cost reports and financial information to stakeholders
- Manage balance sheet accounts, including detailed reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
- Support the external audit process, including preparation of information and schedules
- Prepare tax packs and supporting information
- Assist with month end and year end closing activities
- Provide operational support for finance-related queries
- Support the wider finance team, providing assistance and cover where required
- Undertake ad-hoc financial analysis and accounting tasks as directed by senior accountants
- Develop knowledge and confidence through hands-on involvement in projects, processes, and continuous improvement activities

Skills and experience: You will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices. You will be a competent user of Excel with exceptional attention to detail.-

Previous experience of IFRS16 and Cognos would be advantageous-
