Banbury | £33,000 to £38,000 + up to 5% bonus | Office based | Permanent

Looking for a hands-on accounting role where no two days are the same? Our client, a well-established global engineering manufacturer based in Banbury, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join finance team. This is a newly created role, brought in to support the Finance Manager as the business continues to grow.

The Asiistant Accountant role

• Supporting month end close to tight group reporting deadlines, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
• Processing multi-currency transactions, journals and revaluations
• Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Preparing the monthly VAT return
• Supporting forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting
• Assisting with internal and external audits
• Reviewing employee expenses against company policy
• Providing cover for purchase and sales ledger when needed

What you''ll need as an Assistant Accountant

• Around 5 years'' experience in an accounting or finance role
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Experience with multi-currency transactions (highly desirable)
• Experience with intercompany reconciliations and VAT returns
• Confident Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
• AAT Level 3 or 4, or qualified by experience
• A self-starter who''s happy to get stuck into every part of the finance function

US GAAP, SOX or manufacturing experience would be a bonus, but full training is available. Candidates moving from practice into industry are also encouraged to apply.
