Assembly Technician (Electro-Mechanical)
Assembly Technician (Electro-Mechanical)
Location: West Sussex / Surrey area
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, day shifts with an early finish at the end of the week
We’re working with a well-established precision engineering business who are looking to bring an experienced Assembly Technician into their team.
This is a hands-on role within a specialist environment, building and testing high-spec engineered assemblies to tight tolerances. The work is varied and requires a high level of attention to detail, working from technical drawings and structured build processes.
The Role
You’ll be part of a small, experienced assembly team responsible for building complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
Typical responsibilities include:
• Building assemblies and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings and work instructions
• Working on complex, multi-component builds
• Testing finished assemblies and identifying faults where required
• Diagnosing issues and carrying out basic fault finding
• Working to tight tolerances and ensuring high quality standards are met
• Using measuring equipment such as micrometers and verniers
• Maintaining a clean and organised working environment (5S principles)
• Supporting continuous improvement across the assembly process
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working in a precision engineering environment and understands the importance of accuracy and consistency.
You’ll ideally have:
• Experience in electro-mechanical or precision assembly
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Experience using measuring equipment
• A hands-on, problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of your work
Desirable Experience
• Exposure to machining environments (manual or CNC)
• Experience with small batch or bespoke assembly work
• Understanding of tolerances and precision engineering standards
• Experience working with MRP systems or job cards
The Environment
This is not a high-volume production role.
You’ll be working in a calm, well-established engineering environment where quality and precision are prioritised over speed. The team is experienced, and the business has a strong track record of long-term staff retention.
Why Apply?
• Varied, interesting work
• Stable and well-established business
• Opportunity to work on high-spec engineering assemblies
• Supportive, team-based environment
