Assembly Operator

Our client, a key player within the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a dedicated Assembly Operator to join their permanent team.

  • Based in Farnborough, fully onsite.
  • Working hours, Monday - Thursday 07:45 - 16:15 & Friday 07:45 - 13:15
  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold the sole British nationality and be eligible for full SC Clearance.
  • Competitive market salary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the assembly team to produce LRUs to the daily rate
  • Re-working circuit boards to IPC7711/7721 standard, including removal/replacement of surface mount components
  • Repairing and processing LRUs, ensuring accurate use of in-house systems
  • Utilising Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for product testing
  • Using electronic systems to track repairs and ensure correct updates
  • Ensuring assemblies meet quality standards, with support from supervisors or Manufacturing Engineers as needed
  • Collaborating with cell members using lean manufacturing techniques and participating in lean production activities
  • Maintaining housekeeping in the cell using 5S+1 techniques
  • Adhering to IPC610 Cat C quality standards for work in progress
  • Updating Work in Progress and output TAKT boards, recording figures daily
  • Assisting supervisors by undertaking any reasonable tasks as directed

Job Requirements:

  • Highly developed job knowledge/skills from the communications or manufacturing industry
  • Reasonable school grades in GCSEs or equivalent (''O'' Levels, NVQ Level 2)

Required Experience:

  • Experience with Rework IPC 610 Cat C
  • Experience with IPC 7711A/7721A
  • Knowledge of J STD 001
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team
  • Basic computer skills and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of re-work techniques for surface mount & through-hole components
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • IPC 7711A/7721A trained (training will be provided)
  • Ability to cover as Cell Lead for a small team
  • Experience with solder reflow stations & BGA machines for BGA replacement
