Assembly Operative

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Assembly Operative to work on a permanent basis near Knutsford.

Salary is c-26,800 per annum plus 23 days'' holiday and bank holidays, pension etc.

This is a hands-on role involving the assembly and finishing of tooling to engineering drawings and specifications. You will be responsible for ensuring tooling is assembled accurately, inspected to the required quality standards and completed correctly and on time.

The Role

• Assemble and finish tooling and mechanical components to engineering drawings and specifications.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, including drilling and tapping requirements.

• Assemble components using parts lists and associated documentation.

• Carry out fitting, drilling, tapping and general bench assembly work.

• Inspect components and identify any manufacturing issues or discrepancies.

• Carry out quality and pre-delivery inspection checks.

• Assist with fault-finding and resolving assembly issues.

• Maintain accurate job records using internal IT systems.

• Keep the work area clean, tidy and organised in line with 5S standards.

• Work closely with colleagues and other departments to resolve technical issues and maintain production schedules.

• Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience in bench fitting, tool assembly, mechanical assembly or a similar engineering/manufacturing environment.

• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and parts lists.

• Practical experience using hand tools, including drilling and tapping equipment.

• Good attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and getting things right first time.

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• A proactive approach to problem solving.

• Basic computer/IT skills.
