Are you a calm, compassionate, and proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)£ A welcoming primary school in Stoke Poges is seeking a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.
The school is known for its inclusive ethos and structured environment, designed to meet the needs of pupils with autism. Youandrsquo;ll be part of a supportive team that works collaboratively to help children thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD, helping them access learning and develop communication and social skills
- Use visual timetables, social stories, and structured routines to reduce anxiety and support engagement
- Support pupils with sensory needs using appropriate tools and calming strategies
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans
- Create a safe, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with ASD or related needs (in education or care settings)
- Be patient, consistent, and committed to inclusive education
- Communicate clearly and work effectively within a team
- Be confident using visual aids, communication systems (e.g. PECS, Makaton), and sensory resources
- Be open to ongoing training and development
