Art Teacher - Burgess Hill

Burgess Hill - Alternative Provision - Start Date: 2 weeks - Working Pattern: 4 days per week, with Fridays off (Day off can be adjusted if required)

Salary: -34,069 - -52,835 + SEN Allowance

Are you a passionate Art Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference?

An Alternative Provision setting in Burgess Hill is seeking a creative, dedicated and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join their supportive team, working with children and young adults with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who understands the value of creativity in helping young people express themselves, build confidence and re-engage with education. You will play an important role in creating an engaging and supportive environment where students can develop their artistic skills while working towards their individual goals.

As an Art Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and creative Art lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students.
  • Teach children and young adults with a range of SEMH needs within an Alternative Provision setting.
  • Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and valued.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and activities to engage students with different learning, behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Use Art and creativity to encourage self-expression, confidence and positive engagement with learning.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and encourage positive attitudes towards education.
  • Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback and support.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider pastoral team to support students'' academic and personal development.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, independence and creativity.

What We''re Looking For

  • QTS or QTLS.
  • Experience teaching Art, ideally within a secondary school, specialist setting or Alternative Provision.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, or a strong understanding of supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • A creative, flexible, patient and nurturing approach to teaching.
  • The ability to adapt lessons to engage students with different learning needs and abilities.
  • A genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to education.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Able to commute to Burgess Hill.
