Art & Ceramics Technician

Location:  Framingham Earl High School, Norwich NR14 7QP

Salary: SCP7 £26,403 – SCP11 £28,142 FTE per annum. Salary Pro Rata; £9,203 - £9,983

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Term Time Plus 1 Week, 15 hours per week

Framingham Earl High School has over 100 staff dedicated to providing a World Class education locally. The school’s most recent Ofsted was in October 2022 and the School received Good. Our exam results in 2025 once again put us among the top schools in Norfolk; we continue to be popular and oversubscribed.

Framingham Earl High School is a member of the Sapientia Education Trust (SET), an expanding Trust with 13 Primary and 9 Secondary Schools.

The Role

Responsible to the Director of Subject for ensuring that a safe, effective and efficient service is provided, giving technical advice and assistance in the classroom and assisting teaching staff with learning activities.           

This is a rare opportunity for somebody who is pro-active, flexible and multi-skilled to contribute to the success of student learning.  Previous experience of working with young people, or in an educational environment, would be an advantage.

Person Specification

The personal competencies expected of all school support staff are:

  • The ability to communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods and an awareness of the impact of your own communication on others;
  • Able to maintain positive relationships with all and able to work as an effective and flexible part of a team; willing to change methods of work and routines to benefit the team;
  • Willingness to accept responsibility for your own actions; the ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and accept challenges.

The professional competencies expected of an Art Technician are:

  • Have a genuine and keen interest in art and design;
  • Possess a high degree of organisational ability;
  • Resourcefulness and the ability to act on initiative;
  • Have access to a car and have a full driving license.

The qualifications and previous experience required for an Art Technician are:

  • A good level of literacy and numeracy;
  • Experience of working either in an art studio environment or in a successful art department;
  • Good knowledge of ceramics studio processes (including, but not limited to, clay reclaim processes, kiln firing, glazing)
  • Computer literate – able to use Microsoft and online platforms for design and administrative purposes
