Area Sales Manager
Are you an experienced technical sales professional who thrives on winning new business and building relationships with customers?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established and growing engineering business as an Area Sales Manager, taking ownership of a large territory across the South of the UK.
We are looking for a genuine new business hunter. Someone who enjoys identifying prospects, opening doors, getting in front of customers and turning opportunities into sales.
You will have the freedom to manage your own territory, develop your own pipeline and build long term customer relationships. This is a consultative technical sales role where understanding customer requirements and recommending the right solution is key.
The role is primarily home based, with regular travel throughout your territory and periodic visits to the Telford office.
There is also excellent progression potential for the right person.
The opportunity
You will take ownership of the South UK territory and be responsible for generating profitable growth through proactive business development, new customer acquisition and account development.
You will be expected to create opportunities rather than simply wait for enquiries to come in. You will research potential customers, make contact, arrange meetings, understand their requirements and develop commercially strong solutions.
This role would suit someone who enjoys the challenge of winning new business and has a proven track record of selling technical products, equipment or solutions.
What will you be doing?
• Identify and target new customers across your territory
• Proactively generate new business through telephone, email, networking, referrals, events and customer visits
• Build and manage your own sales pipeline
• Develop relationships with key decision makers and senior stakeholders
• Arrange and attend customer meetings and site visits
• Understand customer requirements and identify opportunities for technical solutions
• Work with internal engineering and technical teams to develop appropriate solutions
• Prepare and present commercial proposals
• Manage opportunities from initial contact through to negotiation and order
• Develop existing customer relationships and identify further opportunities
• Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
• Achieve agreed sales, revenue and gross margin targets
• Monitor competitor activity and market developments
• Attend exhibitions, trade shows and customer events
• Share customer insight and market intelligence with the wider business

• Strong organisation and time management skills
• The confidence and self motivation to work remotely and manage your own territory
Experience within engineering, manufacturing, technical equipment, automation, filtration, industrial systems or another technical environment would be beneficial, but the key requirement is proven technical sales and new business experience.
Why join?
