The Role

This is an exciting, varied, and diverse opportunity for an experienced Architectural Technician to join our close-knit Technical Department. You will work dynamically with internal teams and external architectural and engineering consultants to navigate early designs and approvals smoothly through the Planning and Building Warrant systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Delivery: Manage project teams, chair design team meetings with external consultants, and deliver projects strictly in line with the strategic program.
• Approvals & Compliance: Take full control of all in-house Building Warrant submissions, liaise with statutory approval authorities (Planning, Building Warrant, RCC), and ensure all approvals meet the project plan.
• Cost & Value Engineering: Proactively drive out abortive design costs through early consultant and sub-contractor appointments and implement value engineering.
• Site & Technical Support: Respond swiftly to site queries, resolve construction issues, attend monthly site Project Review meetings, and lead Pre-start Meetings to brief departments on contract drawings.
• Drawing & Design Management: Coordinate consultants for house type working drawings, check supplier schedules, and prepare technical details.
• You will also manage and implement standard designs while assisting with the development of our Standard House Type Range.
• Departmental Admin: Assist with sales brochure material, attend handovers, and help administer the Technical Department.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience: Proven background in new-build housing and flatted developments across both the Private/Residential and Social Housing sectors.
• Technical Skills: Highly proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit. Strong IT literacy across Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel). Knowledge of the Project Vault drawing system is preferred but not essential.
• Industry Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of Scottish Building Regulations, NHBC regulations, HFvN Standards, and robust construction detailing.
• Attributes: Highly motivated, efficient, and accurate with the ability to work under minimum supervision. You should display strong initiative, accept responsibility, and deeply embrace our core company values.
