Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE) + Benefits

Are you an experienced Applications Engineer, Sales Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Design Engineer who enjoys developing practical machinery solutions rather than focusing purely on detailed design?

SimWest Engineering Recruitment is recruiting an Applications Engineer for an established and growing machinery manufacturer, backed by a global organisation.

Working between the Sales and Engineering teams, you will help turn customer requirements into practical machinery solutions, developing equipment concepts, CAD layouts, technical proposals and cost estimates.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining **mechanical engineering, technical design and commercial project development.

The Role

As an Applications Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Applications Engineering: Reviewing customer requirements and identifying suitable machinery and automation solutions.
• 2D CAD & 3D Modelling: Producing machinery layouts, equipment arrangements and 3D concept designs.
• Technical Proposals: Preparing equipment specifications, technical documentation and engineering proposals.
• Estimating & Costing: Developing cost estimates and supporting the preparation of commercial quotations.
• Sales & Engineering Support: Working with Sales, Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Engineers to develop practical solutions.
• Customer Liaison: Discussing technical requirements, equipment layouts and proposed solutions with customers.
• Project Handover: Supporting the transition of successful orders into Engineering and Project Delivery.

About You

We welcome applications from Applications Engineers, Sales Engineers, Mechanical Design Engineers and Mechanical Engineers with experience in machinery or automated equipment.

Ideally, you will have:

• A background in applications engineering or machinery design.
• Experience using 2D CAD and 3D modelling software.
• The ability to produce machinery layouts, equipment concepts or engineering drawings.
• An understanding of industrial machinery, manufacturing processes or automation systems.
• Experience with technical proposals, quotations or cost estimates would be beneficial.
• Good communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.

Experience within Special Purpose Machinery, OEM Equipment, Industrial Automation, Packaging Machinery, Food Processing, Materials Handling or Manufacturing would be particularly relevant.
