Application Database Administrator - RDBMS

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator (RDBMS) with proven experience working within the Aerospace and Defence sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and maintaining relational database environments, ensuring databases remain secure, highly available, performant and reliable. The role covers database installation and configuration, performance tuning, security and access management, backup and disaster recovery, data integrity, troubleshooting and capacity planning. Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Installation and Configuration Install, configure and upgrade RDBMS platforms. Configure database storage and system resources. Support database environments across the application lifecycle. Performance Tuning and Optimisation Monitor database performance and activity. Analyse and optimise slow SQL queries. Manage and optimise database indexes. Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks. Allocate system resources to maintain optimal performance. Security and Access Control Define and manage database user roles and permissions. Grant and revoke database access as required. Implement appropriate authentication and access controls. Support database encryption and security requirements. Ensure database environments comply with security standards. Backup and Disaster Recovery Configure and manage regular database backups.
