About the School
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
About the Role
As an Animal Care Teaching Assistant (TA), you will support students in developing practical animal care skills while helping them access education tailored to their individual needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a love for animals, and is committed to making a difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in animal care activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
- Assist in the delivery of vocational learning plans.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Monitor and report on student progress, adapting support strategies as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with young people with SEN is desirable.
- A genuine interest in animal care and outdoor learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive to the school is essential.
- Relevant qualifications or training in animal care or SEN support are advantageous but not essential.
To work with GSL Education as an Animal Care Teaching Assistant, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
