Alternative Provision Tutor

Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced Alternative Provision Tutor to work with a Year 8 student who is currently experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and has significant gaps in their education. The student has recently relocated and is in need of a supportive, consistent tutor to help rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning. This role is for 15 hours per week, split into 3 hours each week day. Timings are flexible. If you are seeking additional hours, there are further opportunities that can be undertaken alongside this tuition.
About the Learner:
- Year 8 student with EBSA
- Recently moved to the area
- Has gaps in both Maths and English
- Needs a calm, encouraging tutor to help them re-engage with learning at their own pace
As an Alternative Provision Tutor you will:
- Deliver tailored Maths and English sessions based on the learner''s current level and gaps
- Build a trusting relationship to support emotional wellbeing and engagement
- Use creative and flexible teaching strategies to meet the learner''s individual needs
- Track progress and adapt sessions accordingly
About you:
- Experience working with learners with EBSA, SEMH, or similar needs
- Strong background in Maths and English tuition
- Patient, empathetic, and skilled at building rapport
- Able to work independently and communicate effectively with parents and professionals

Hours - 15 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
