Alternative Provision Lead

This successful secondary school in Shrewsbury is seeking an exceptional Alternative Provision Lead to join its team.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a specialist provision designed to support students who require an alternative approach to education, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, attendance challenges and other barriers to learning. You will play a key role in developing and leading a nurturing, inclusive and highly effective provision that enables students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Working closely with senior leaders, families and external agencies, you will oversee the strategic development and day-to-day operation of the provision, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, behaviour support, safeguarding and student outcomes. You will also lead reintegration pathways, helping students successfully transition back into mainstream education wherever appropriate.
The Role:

  • Lead the strategic development and daily operation of the school's alternative provision
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH needs and barriers to learning
  • Develop bespoke programmes to improve engagement, attendance and outcomes
  • Lead reintegration pathways for students returning to mainstream education
  • Establish and monitor high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour support
  • Use data to evaluate provision effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
  • Line manage, coach and develop staff within the provision
  • Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies and support services
  • Promote trauma-informed and inclusive approaches to learning and behaviour
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • Strong behaviour management and pastoral leadership skills
  • Experience adapting curriculum and provision for vulnerable learners
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to inspire staff and students alike
  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and improving life chances for young people
  • Experience within alternative provision or reintegration programmes would be highly advantageous
