Air Conditioning PPM Engineer
Midlands | Mobile Role
-15.00 - -16.00 Per Hour | -33,150 - -35,360 Basic | Paid Door-to-Door Travel | Overtime at 1.5x | No Standby | Van with Private Use
Permanent | Full Time | Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm | 42.5 Hours Per Week
A well-established air conditioning and refrigeration contractor is looking for an Air Conditioning PPM Engineer to join its mobile engineering team covering the Midlands.
This is a predominantly air conditioning maintenance role, carrying out planned preventative maintenance across a varied portfolio of commercial sites including pubs, restaurants, hospitality venues and convenience stores.
The position pays -15 to -16 per hour, although there may be some flexibility for the right candidate depending on experience. You''ll also receive paid door-to-door travel, with overtime available and paid at 1.5x.
There is no standby or call-out rota.
The Role
As an Air Conditioning PPM Engineer, you''ll travel between customer sites across the Midlands carrying out scheduled planned preventative maintenance on commercial AC equipment.
The majority of your workload will be air conditioning PPM rather than refrigeration, so we''re particularly interested in engineers with experience maintaining commercial split, multi-split, VRV and VRF systems.
You''ll work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, managing your allocated sites and completing routine servicing, cleaning, inspections and operational checks.
This is primarily a planned maintenance position rather than a breakdown role. You''ll be responsible for keeping equipment clean and maintained, checking system operation and identifying faults or defects that require further remedial work.
There will also be some exposure to commercial refrigeration equipment, so previous refrigeration experience would be useful, although this isn''t essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on commercial air conditioning systems.
- Complete scheduled AC PPM visits across customer sites throughout the Midlands.
- Maintain equipment including split, multi-split, VRV and VRF air conditioning systems.
- Carry out filter cleaning, coil cleaning and routine equipment maintenance.
- Complete visual inspections and basic operational checks.
- Check system condition and general performance.
- Identify defects, faults and components requiring further repair.
- Carry out basic maintenance on commercial refrigeration equipment where required.
- Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Report remedial works and significant faults back to the service team.
- Maintain good working relationships with customers and site teams.
- Work safely and in accordance with current F-Gas, air conditioning and health and safety requirements.
What You''ll Need
We''re looking for someone with previous experience working on commercial air conditioning systems, ideally within a service, maintenance or PPM environment.
To be considered, you''ll need:
- F-Gas qualification, such as City & Guilds 2079 or equivalent.
- Previous air conditioning maintenance experience.
- Experience working on commercial AC equipment.
- Knowledge of split, multi-split, VRV and/or VRF systems.
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
- Ability to work independently across a mobile patch.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Previous commercial refrigeration experience would be an advantage but isn''t essential. Engineers with experience across both refrigeration and air conditioning are particularly welcome to apply.
The business may also be flexible on experience and hourly rate for the right candidate, so it''s worth applying if your background doesn''t match every requirement.
What''s On Offer
- -15.00 - -16.00 per hour, with potential flexibility for the right candidate.
- -33,150 - -35,360 basic per year at the advertised hourly rate.
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
- 42.5-hour working week.
- Paid door-to-door travel.
- Overtime available.
- Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate.
- No standby or call-out rota.
- 33 days holiday, including bank holidays.
- Company van and fuel card.
- Van available for private use.
- Smartphone and laptop provided.
- Company uniform.
- Ongoing air conditioning and refrigeration training.
- Opportunities to develop your technical experience.
About the Business
The company specialises in commercial air conditioning and refrigeration installation, service and maintenance, supporting customers across a broad UK portfolio.
Its engineers work across a mixture of hospitality, pubs, restaurants, convenience retail and other commercial premises, providing plenty of variety without supermarket refrigeration work.
For an engineer who prefers planned maintenance, this role offers a strong working pattern with Monday-to-Friday hours, paid door-to-door travel, overtime availability and no standby rota.
Apply
If you''re an F-Gas qualified Air Conditioning Engineer, AC Engineer, HVAC Engineer or PPM Engineer based in the Midlands and you''re looking for a maintenance-focused position with paid door-to-door travel and no standby, apply with your CV.
Refrigeration experience is a bonus rather than a requirement, and there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.
