Administration Manager - Risk Transfer Team

OverviewIsio Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
We’re looking for an experienced Pensions Administrator to join our Risk Transfer team as an Administration Manager in our Belfast office. You will be working in Isio’s Actuarial and Consulting team – over 400 pensions experts – actuaries and consultants, with a close link to Isio’s wider Pensions Administration business.
We advise on a range of areas to help trustees and sponsors manage their defined benefit plans. The role focuses on supporting the transition of pension schemes that are transitioning to insurance, with opportunities to gain new experiences within the wider administration functions that Isio completes.
Role Purpose:
In this newly created role, you will support Isio’s Actuarial and Consulting team by working alongside actuaries and consultants in the risk transfer team. Your focus will include administrative duties for transitioning pension schemes to insurance, such as preparing and verifying scheme member data during buy-in quotation phases, supporting trustees in meeting obligations until responsibilities transfer to insurers, and assisting the wider Pensions Administration Team with BAU tasks. Experience in insurance transaction processes (e.g., streamlined data collation, benefit specification review) is advantageous, while maintaining workflow efficiency across general administration activities is essential for this fast-paced role.
Role and Responsibilities
Working alongside the Insurance team to progress pre and post buy-in administrative tasks, including time-critical tasks and multiple workstreams and deadlines.
Collation of data as part of the insurer’s streamlined data collation processes;
Answering queries on data and benefits and ensuring timescales are met for provision of complete data to insurers;
Marital tracing and address tracking including bulk member write-outs via write-out exercises and collation of responses;
Managing data requests and information required for GMP reconciliation, GMP rectification and GMP equalisation projects;
Working with other administrators on wider scheme activity, including review of ongoing administration tasks and complex calculations, and answering enquiries to required standards using automated and manual processes;
Working with the risk and compliance team to ensure errors, omissions and complaints are handled according to procedures and timescales;
Keeping abreast of technical developments, procedural and legislative changes, and acting on implications.
Key Skills and Experience
Previous experience as a Pensions Administrator with knowledge of delivering administration services to Defined Benefit pension schemes.
Experience of administration processes as part of insurance transactions (data collation for quotation templates, review of benefit specifications, liaising with the insurance team).
Experience of managing small ad-hoc projects including GMP reconciliation, GMP rectification and data for GMP equalisation.
Ability to perform complex pension calculations and peer review calculations to a high standard of accuracy.
Strong knowledge of member calculation processes, Defined Benefit scheme types and governing legislation.
Good communication skills with clients, members and colleagues with impact and credibility.
Excellent prioritisation skills to manage multiple tasks and meet insurer deadlines and SLAs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a drive to improve ways of working.
