We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a busy and successful business.
This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of finance administration while working closely with the wider team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile bank, cash and credit card accounts.
- Maintain debtor and creditor ledgers.
- Prepare, submit and reconcile VAT returns.
- Process monthly direct debit collections.
- Post journals, including prepayments and accruals.
- Complete account reconciliations through to trial balance at year end.
- Ensure financial deadlines and statutory requirements are met.
- Assist with monthly billing and invoicing.
- Process payroll using Sage Payroll.
- Provide general office support, including answering telephone enquiries and assisting with ad hoc administrative duties.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar bookkeeping role.
- Essential experience using Sage 50 Accounts.
- Sage Payroll experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
Qualifications (Desirable):
- AAT qualification or equivalent.
