Accounts Assistant (Entry-Level Opportunity)

Salary: £24,784.50 – £25,000 + Benefits

Location: Peterborough

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (working hours to be agreed at interview)

A well-established and growing organisation is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a long-term career in accounting within a supportive and structured environment.

Working as part of a busy Accounts team, you will support the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations. Responsibilities will include:

• Processing purchase invoices accurately and within deadlines
• Managing selected purchase ledger accounts
• Handling supplier statement reconciliations
• Processing timesheets on a weekly basis
• Assisting with intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting ledger accuracy and financial controls
• Responding to internal and external queries via phone and email
• Providing general administrative support to the finance function
• Assisting with system improvements and ongoing projects, including ERP implementation
• Supporting audit processes when required

This position is ideally suited to someone looking to establish a career within finance or accounting. You may already have some exposure to a finance environment or be keen to build your experience in a structured role.

Key attributes include:

• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
• A genuine interest in developing a career within accounting

Previous experience in a finance or purchase ledger environment is beneficial but not essential.
