Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including reviewing sales, cost of sales, gross margins, and overheads; posting accruals and prepayments; and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Process monthly payroll journals and related accounting entries.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable function, including processing supplier invoices, maintaining the purchase ledger, preparing supplier payment runs, and reviewing the GRNI account.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and controls, including stock reconciliations, stock take coordination, inventory valuation reviews, and investigation of variances.
  • Support tax compliance activities and liaise with external advisers for timely submission of statutory returns, including VAT and US Sales Tax.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of the half-yearly stock take.
  • Provide support to colleagues across the Finance team, including processing and reviewing employee expense claims.
  • Maintain and improve finance processes, systems, and internal controls.
  • Offer ad hoc financial analysis and support to the Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer as required.


Skills and experience:

  • Solid general accounting background, ideally in an SME environment.
  • Process-oriented with the ability to draft processes where they do not currently exist.
  • IT literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Experience of working with Syspro ERP system (desirable).
  • Part-qualified or QBE, with study support available.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a finance team with direct exposure to month-end protocols.
