The Accounting Policy Group is focused on researching technical accounting matters for both internal and external clients under US GAAP and IFRS. Internal clients include the controllers group, financial reporting and various businesses (equity, fixed income and credit, commodities, Treasury Trade Solutions (TTS), corporate lending, investment banking, among others). External clients include treasury, finance and accounting executives at our corporate and financial institutions clients.What You’ll Do
The Account Policy Senior Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who works in the Accounting Policy Group at Citi. The role ensures that Citi''s business activities are in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IFRS (as relevant) and Citi’s accounting policies.Work with a team of accounting experts that review and approve the accounting treatment for complex transactions, establish accounting policies in conjunction with peer policy staff, and assist Controllers in connection with Citi’s financial statements. Prepare detailed documentation to support accounting conclusions of new/modified products and complex transactions.Lead and facilitate implementation efforts for new accounting standards for both US GAAP and IFRS.Prepare and deliver presentations to facilitate firm-wide education on new or changing accounting requirements to ensure management understands the impact of new standards and regulations.Review and approve new products and structured transactions and participate in the New Activity Approval Process, thereby monitoring franchise risk for the firm.Interact with accounting standard setters (e.g., FASB and IASB), banking regulators and participate on industry committees.Maintain strong relationships with auditors and other external advisors.Prepare and present to Senior Management the impacts of accounting standards and complex transactions.Avoid risk in business decisions by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.What We’ll Need From You
Senior to mid-level years of experience.Big 4 accounting firm financial services and/or national technical office experience or accounting policy or other technical accounting role at a financial institution is preferable.Practical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, specifically regarding financial instrument accounting.Excellent interpersonal and client service skills and the ability to work closely with various levels of management.Excellent research, analytical, organisational, multi-tasking and drafting skills.Fast thinker/quick learner with the ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment to meet deadlines.Bachelor’s degree.CPA/CA or equivalent certification required.What We Can Offer You
