The Role:
As an Academic Learning Mentor, you will provide targeted academic support to secondary students who require additional guidance in the classroom. You will work with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them understand lesson content, complete work and develop stronger learning habits. You will also support students with mild SEN needs by offering clear explanations, reassurance and structure.
The Candidate:
This role will suit a patient, reliable graduate who wants to gain school-based experience before progressing into teaching, SEN or education. You should be confident building positive relationships with young people and able to adapt your approach when students need extra support.
Requirements
- 2:2 degree or above in any subject.
- A genuine interest in supporting students with academic and mild SEN needs.
- Strong communication skills and a calm, encouraging approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
