Role Purpose
To provide accurate accounting support across a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely preparation of accounts, strong financial controls, and highquality service delivery. The role suits someone confident with AAT Level 4 standards, able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities as the new AAT Level 4 Accountant
- Accounts preparation - Prepare year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Bookkeeping - Maintain accurate ledgers, journals and reconciliations.
- VAT returns - Complete and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
- Management accounts - Assist with monthly/quarterly management accounts and reporting.
- Client communication - Respond to client queries promptly and professionally.
- Compliance - Ensure work meets AAT standards, internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Software use - Use accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.
- Financial analysis - Support with variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
- Process accuracy - Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail across all tasks.
- Team support - Assist colleagues, share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement.
Skills, Knowledge andamp; Experience
- AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Good knowledge of VAT, bookkeeping and financial reporting
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication and clientfacing skills
- Experience with accounting software (Xero/Sage/QuickBooks)
- Strong organisational skills
