Microsoft 365 (M365) Lead Engineer
to join us on a
contract
basis (minimum of 3 months) in
Aberdeen

London . As M365 Lead Engineer you will provide technical direction, design authority, and decision making for a complex tenant to tenant Microsoft 365 migration. The role oversees vendor led activities—approving runbooks and cutover plans, setting success/rollback criteria, assuring quality and compliance—and provides internal technical leadership where required. Acting as the primary internal owner, the Lead coordinates governance, risk and stakeholder engagement to deliver safe, secure migrations across OneDrive, OneNote, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Exchange, Power Platform (Power Apps/Automate) and Power BI with minimal business disruption.What you’ll do
Act as M365 design authority for the migration: approve architecture patterns, runbooks, acceptance and rollback criteria; arbitrate technical choices across workloads and regionsDecision making and assurance: chair daily migration stand ups and go/no go forums; own defect triage, evidence based acceptance and hyper care exitSecurity, identity and compliance alignment: ensure adherence to Entra ID, information protection, DLP/retention and audit obligations; own exceptions and remediationsOperational readiness and handover: ensure documentation, known issues and support playbooks are complete; confirm BAU support model/SLAs prior to exitStakeholder leadership: brief steering/design forums and BU leads; set clear user impact narratives and mitigation in comms and trainingKey Responsibilities
Workload execution and assurance: Lead and assure vendor delivered migrations across OneDrive/OneNote, SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange, Power Platform and Power BI by confirming readiness, monitoring execution, and validating post migration integrity of data, permissions, configurations and user experiencePlanning and governance: approve scope, sequencing, freeze windows and rollback criteria; own the integrated cutover plan and risk postureCommercial and licensing guardrails: validate partner SoW changes, licensing dependencies (e.g., cross tenant add ons) and cost impacts before executionRegional compliance: ensure works council/region specific constraints are embedded in design, comms and execution plansContinuous improvement: capture lessons learned and embed in subsequent waves, standards and runbooksActs as a bridge between subject matter experts (SMEs) and non-technical stakeholders, including project management resources, ensuring clear communication and understanding across all partiesIdentifies and actively manages both internal and external technical dependencies to minimise risk and ensure successful project deliveryServes as the key technical stakeholder for all required engagements, representing technical interests both within the project and to external partners, as well as across the businessProactively identifies resourcing requirements and recommends changes in response to evolving project scope or prioritiesWhat to bring
