Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES) is an Innovation Hub established by the Scottish Government Chief Scientists’ Office, forming part of a national network to deliver the Government’s vision to utilise innovation to improve health and wealth for the future. The network allows testing of innovative solutions in real-world environments before broader use, covering clinical, financial, and operational aspects, including digitising services, integrating AI and machine learning into care.

Formed through collaboration with Borders, Fife, and Lothian NHS Boards, with Lothian as lead host, HISES has a pivotal role in developing and evaluating innovative solutions.

This is a full-time permanent post (37 hours) based in NHS Lothian.

Base/Location: Westport (Hybrid working).

Responsibilities

Support the delivery of the HISES portfolio by managing innovation testbed projects through collaborations with industry, NHS, academic and third-sector partners.

Be part of the HISES team to deliver transformational and innovative change; deliver complex clinically led innovation projects including Data Driven Innovation challenges.

Provide support, facilitation, progress monitoring and reporting for projects.

Apply project management expertise and enthusiasm for delivering and supporting creative, technological solutions to health and care challenges.

Develop robust and novel solutions to key challenges; beneficial for clinicians seeking project management experience.

Demonstrate knowledge of the NHS Scotland Innovation Programme, the ability to influence others, and the capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior managers, project stakeholders, and third-party service providers across Scotland and beyond.

Work with senior-level staff and across the NHS to understand and manage service delivery requirements.

Possess degree-level intellect and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Possess experience in digital healthcare, data science, innovation and project management (beneficial).

Qualifications

Degree-level education and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Background in digital healthcare, data science, innovation and project management is beneficial.

A clinician with an interest in gaining project management experience is encouraged.

Knowledge of the wider objectives of the NHS Scotland Innovation Programme and the ability to influence others.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior managers, project stakeholders, and third-party service providers.
