Academics Ltd is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to join mainstream primary and secondary schools across Gloucester. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised support to pupils, help them overcome barriers to learning, and support their academic, social and emotional development.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual pupil, providing tailored support based on their specific needs and learning goals. You may be supporting pupils with needs outlined in an EHCP or My Plan, helping them to engage confidently with their education and make positive progress.

You will work alongside class teachers, SENCOs and other members of the school team to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel confident, valued and able to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil''s individual needs.
• Support pupils to participate in and engage with classroom activities.
• Implement personalised strategies and interventions to support learning and development.
• Encourage pupils'' confidence, independence and social development.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and help create a supportive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other members of the school team.
• Maintain clear communication regarding pupil progress and development.
• Support pupils in achieving their individual learning and development targets.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and access the curriculum effectively.

Key Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
• The ability to provide two recent professional references.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their potential.
• Excellent communication, patience and a positive, nurturing approach.
• The ability to adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
