Nursery Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Down Syndrome Support - SparkhillAspire People are currently recruiting for a caring, patient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sparkhill. This is a full-time role starting in September 2026 and continuing until July 2027, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Nursery with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a young child with Down syndrome, helping them to access learning, develop communication and social skills, and thrive within the nursery environment.Key Responsibilities: Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Nursery-aged child with Down syndrome. Support the child''s learning, development, and engagement in daily classroom activities. Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO, and other professionals to implement strategies outlined within the EHCP. Encourage communication, independence, and positive social interactions. Adapt activities and resources to meet the child''s individual needs. Support personal development and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day. Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff where appropriate.The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Previous experience working with children in an EYFS or primary setting. Experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with Down syndrome or similar developmental needs, is desirable.
