1-1 Support Assistant

Leader Education are recruiting for a 1:1 Support Assistant to work at a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Secondary School based in North Shields. The successful 1:1 Support Assistant will have prior experience working with children who have SEND, a strong knowledge base on how to support children within the classroom and be able to work with children on a 1:1 basis.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

• An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
• Experience and knowledge conducting 1:1 or small group support with students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
• An ability to assist with classroom activities, providing necessary accommodations and modifications to meet individual student''s needs
• Experience and knowledge on monitoring and recording student progress, can report to teachers, and adapt support strategies when needed
• Can assist with behavioural management, ensuring a safe and respectful school environment for all students
