Individual Needs Assistant (INA) – Uckfield

Pay Rate: £85 – £105 per day, depending on experience

Supply Desk is looking for a calm, confident and adaptable Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to support a Year 4 pupil in a primary school in Uckfield.

The pupil has PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and ADHD, and the role will involve providing consistent 1:1 support to help them manage their emotions, access learning and successfully navigate the school day.

This is a role for someone who is confident managing challenging behaviour and understands the importance of building trust, maintaining clear boundaries and using a calm, consistent approach.

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil

• Support the pupil with their learning, engagement and daily routines

• Use calm, consistent and positive behaviour strategies

• Help the pupil develop emotional regulation and coping strategies

• Adapt your approach according to the pupil''s individual needs

• Build a trusting and positive professional relationship

• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team

• Support the pupil to develop independence and confidence

• Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment

• Respond appropriately and professionally to challenging situations

• Previous experience supporting children with ADHD, PDA, SEND or SEMH

• Confident supporting challenging or complex behaviour

• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient

• Adaptable and able to think on your feet

• Consistent and confident in maintaining boundaries

• Able to build strong relationships with children

• Positive and nurturing while remaining firm and professional

• Experience working on a 1:1 basis would be advantageous
