Hays Construction NQ are pleased to represent a leading Far North QLD contracting business with the recruitment of a Civil Land Surveyor. Their commitment to safety, communication, and high-quality work forms the foundation of their success. Due to an increase in workload and projected business expansion, they are currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated Civil Land Surveyor to join their dedicated team. This is a permanent vacancy in Cairns.

Your new role

Your role will be diverse and rewarding. You will manage all aspects of project-level surveying, including establishing and maintaining survey controls, accurate set-out, and level control. You will perform surveys for road works, structures, earthworks, paving, subdivisions, and drainage, and oversee the preparation of detailed 'as constructed' data and drawings. Responsibilities also include communicating with site personnel, performing comparative analysis of field data, and ensuring compliance with regulations. You will generate reports and maps, manage survey data, resolve issues, and stay updated with the latest surveying technology and methods. Additionally, you will support the training and development of Survey Technicians and Assistants, and maintain survey equipment.

What you'll need to succeed

You hold a degree or diploma in Surveying or Spatial Science, with strong demonstrated experience in construction surveying. You are proficient in using surveying equipment, machine control systems, and software such as drone survey, Terra Model, 12d, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Centre, and Leica Robotic and GPS systems. You hold current first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain), Construction Induction White Card, and a Driver's Licence. You are an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional with excellent communication skills, strong mathematics and analytical abilities, and a commitment to safety and high standards.
