Our client, a leading entity in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join their team on a contract basis. This role is essential to the design and development of high-integrity gearboxes and related systems for the naval defence industry. You will work full-time onsite in Huddersfield, primarily concentrating on Dreadnought submarine projects, and liaise with key stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Engineering design of geared transmission systems and componentsDevelop and re-engineer designs for new applicationsDesign test equipment and procedures for gearboxesInterpretation of customer specifications and design standardsSupporting and collaborating with team members across various disciplinesCreation of deliverable documentation including proposals, manuals, and installation instructionsExpert-level usage of 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably Solid EdgeLiaison with production engineering and supply chain teams for problem-solvingJob Requirements:Experience in mechanical design, particularly in the Defence sectorProficiency with Solid Edge and SAP softwareUnderstanding of engineering design data specification in SAPStrong knowledge of geared transmission systems and related componentsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailGood communication skills for customer-facing tasks and partnership workA background in working on projects related to submarines and naval shipsBenefits:Opportunity for temp-to-perm ..... full job details .....
