Urgent Opportunity: Fostering Recruitment Hub Enquiry Officer

Partnering with Hammersmith and Fulham Council

Remote role for the most part(at least twice monthly, in additional to training days and meetings, office days to meet the requirements of the team)
Start Date: January 2024
RatE per hour: £20 PAYE / £25 Umbrella PAYE

Are you passionate about transforming the lives of children and families£ Hammersmith and Fulham Council is looking for a Fostering Recruitment Hub Enquiry Officer to join the newly established, DfE-funded West London Regional Fostering Recruitment Hub. This is your opportunity to play a key role in an innovative initiative supporting foster carer recruitment across eight Local Authorities in West London.

About the Role

As an Enquiry Officer, you will be the first point of contact for the public, supporting fostering enquiries with a professional and empathetic approach. Key responsibilities include:

- Enquiry Management: Handle public queries about fostering by phone, face-to-face, and digitally, providing detailed information and guiding prospective carers through their journey.
- Event Coordination: Organise and facilitate fostering recruitment events across West London to engage and inspire communities.
- Recruitment Campaigns: Collaborate with fostering teams, marketing officers, and local partners to design and implement targeted strategies.
- Community Engagement: Build awareness by connecting with diverse community groups, raising the profile of fostering services, and generating interest.
- Administrative Excellence: Maintain and manage databases of foster carer applicants, track progress, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

Working Arrangements

Flexibility is at the heart of this role:

- Office Working: Expected at least twice a month or as required to meet service needs.
- Evening Work: Some evening commitments to accommodate events and service requirements.
- Flexible Hours: Working hours can be adjusted to suit personal circumstances while ensuring service delivery.

About You

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

- Organised and Tenacious: You work effectively under pressure, managing deadlines and seeing projects through to completion.
- Community-Focused: You have experience engaging with the public and diverse community groups, ideally in fostering or children’s services.
- Knowledgeable: Understanding of fostering regulations, safeguarding policies, and the challenges facing children in care is desirable.

Desired Skills and Experience

- Previous experience in fostering, children’s services, or community outreach is advantageous.
- Familiarity with West London’s community demographics is a plus.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
