Senior Finance Officer - ENHANCED DBS REQUIRED

JOB TITLE: Senior Finance Officer

PAY SCALE: £14-£16 per hour

STATUS OF POST: 36 hours

LOCATION: Enfield

START DATE: ASAP until October 2024

Job Purpose

To supervise and oversee all day-to-day aspects of School finances and other associated administrative work, to ensure the provision of an efficient and effective service to the School. To oversee the duties of the Finance Officer. ENHANCED DBS REQUIRED.

Senior Finance Officer Duties

  • To supervise and oversee all aspects of day-to-day finances of the School.
  • To support the Fandamp;O in all aspects of School Finance.
  • Maintaining the Schools accounting system.
  • To import the signed budget to the schools financial management system.
  • Produce and evaluate financial reports as required and to assist where necessary in the compilation of statistical information and returns.
  • Responsible for ensuring that day-to-day accounts are up to date and prepared for Year End.
  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day income and expenditure, including BACS, online payments in and out, cashless systems, cash procedures and banking.
  • To oversee the gathering of day to day financial information for Audits and the production of accurate reports for such, including managing the completion of the Audit schedules, Accruals lists and Fixed Assets lists
  • With Fandamp;O, review and respond to any control weaknesses identified through audit or other procedures and checks.
  • Responsible for carrying out the month end process and producing associated month end management reports for Fandamp;O, SLT and Governors
  • To be responsible for ensuring that the Cashflow Forecast is regularly updated
  • To be responsible for the accurate reconciliation of the monthly payroll in readiness for input onto the Schools financial system and to produce associated reports, journals and transactions.
  • To ensure that all associated payroll reports are regularly kept up to date and ready for input onto the year end audit schedule
  • To prepare the extra-curricular payment schedule for the Fandamp;O and reconcile this with the information provided by the external payroll provider
  • Process monthly payroll journals and cash book payments to Third Parties, produce monthly reconciliation spreadsheets showing costings charged to budgets, all within in a timely manner
  • Monitoring of departmental budgets, responsible for producing regular budget reports, proactively monitoring departmental spends, liaising with Budget Holders, answering queries and advising where appropriate and required.
  • Responsible for processing weekly payment runs by BACS and uploading onto the Schools banking system, cheque runs and monthly direct debits, cross checking that all invoices have been entered accurately and correctly and ensuring payments are made on time. To be responsible for the security of unused cheques and other controlled stationery.
  • Responsible for ensuring that payments to individuals are backed up with Tax Status Approval.
  • Responsible for the weekly reconciliation of ParentPay.
  • Responsible for the processing of paperwork for any School vehicle.
  • To manage and monitor the school mobile phones that are allocated to staff, ensuring contracts are suitable to the school''s needs and to maintain up to date records regarding staff declarations and usage.
